Lips After Care

  • Apply a thin layer of ointment three times a day for 7 days.

  • Avoid soaking the treated area in baths, swimming pools, or hot tubs, and do not swim in fresh, salt, or chlorinated water for at least 10 days.

  • Refrain from using tanning beds or sunbathing for 10 days post-procedure. Wear a hat for outdoor activities.

  • For the first few days, avoid salty and spicy foods, and use straws to drink.

  • Gently wash the area with mild soap twice a day.

As your lips heal, the color may appear spotty and uneven due to uneven shedding of the pigment. The color might also seem to fade during the frosting stage. This is normal, and the color will become more consistent after complete healing, which can take up to three weeks. Do not pick at the treated area; allow it to flake off naturally.

Note that lip blushing typically requires more than one session. It is normal to lose up to 20% of the color after the initial procedure. Touch-ups cannot be scheduled sooner than 4 weeks; those scheduled after 8 weeks are considered a boost and may incur an additional charge.

Failure to follow these post-treatment instructions may result in loss of pigment, discoloration, or infection.

Healing Timeline

Day 1: Swelling, tender, heavy, thick lipstick look (reddish brick color effect)

Day 2: Slight swelling, reddish, tender, slight metallic flavor

Day 3: Less swelling, thicker texture, sore, hot feeling before exfoliation, looks like an “orange” color

Day 4: Exfoliation - very chapped lips

Day 5: Very chapped but almost finished with 1st chapping stage

Day 6: see soft rich color

Day 7: Lip Color disappears, “frosty” stage beings (2d chapping stage), a whitish, grayish haze on the lips

Day 8-14: Color “blooms” from within more and more each day until day 21 (three weeks after the procedure)

Day 21: The healing is completed! The color you see is the color you have. However, the lips will remain a bit dry for a month or two. Use a good lip balm and they will return back to normal but with color!
